Croque Monsieur

This warm, toasty croque monsieur is a show-stopping, flavourful sandwich! Why get excited? Well, imagine thin slices of ham and melted cheese, all wrapped up in Three Cheese Texas Toast! It just hits the spot.

Serves 4



Preheat oven to 400°F. Toast Furlani Three Cheese Texas Toast on a baking sheet for 10 minutes, 5 minutes per side.


Spread 1 tsp of mustard on each toast slice. Distribute 1 cup of grated cheese between 4 bottom toasts per sandwich.


Cut the apple into quarters, remove the core, and slice thinly. Lay 8 to 10 apple slices on top of each cheese-layered toast slice. Layer two slices of ham on top.


Top each sandwich with a second slice of toast, mustard side down and press down gently.


Whisk flour into mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Slowly whisk in milk.


Stir in 2/3 cup of grated cheese into the mayonnaise mixture, and season with black pepper. Set aside the remaining cheese.


Evenly spread the mayonnaise mixture on the tops of each sandwich and sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of cheese.


Place sandwiches on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and bubbling. Cut into halves and serve immediately.
