Prepare Furlani Garlic Texas Toast slices as per packaging directions.
Let the toast sit and cool for 5 minutes and cut them neatly into bread cubes.
Boil the peeled potatoes in a medium-sized pot. Add in two cups of water and a teaspoon of salt. Bring to boil before reducing to medium heat. Let it cook for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
Melt the stick of butter in a separate large pan on medium heat. Add the diced carrots and cook for 6-7 minutes or until tender. As the carrots soften, add in the corn and peas as they require minimal cooking time on the pan.
Add the ground beef and to the pan filled with vegetables. Season the beef with salt and pepper and simmer until beef is brown. Add the beef broth and cook the contents in the pan on reduced low heat for 8-10 minutes.
Once the potatoes are tender, remove them from the pot and place into a large bowl. Using a large spatula or fork, mash the potatoes thoroughly.
Transfer the beef and vegetables to a horizontal pan. Spread it carefully along the pan and top with a layer of toasted Furlani bread cubes. Once done, add a layer of mashed potatoes.
Bake in the oven at 375°F (200°C) for 35 minutes or until the shepherd’s pie is thoroughly cooked and simmering with the mashed potatoes a nice golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
