When you’re craving comfort food, nothing beats a good ol’ sloppy joe. Saucy, cheesy, and super delicious; it’s what your weeknight dinner needs. We love this recipe from Listen2Lena using our Garlic Texas Toast and Canadian Beef to create this dish.
Double the recipe and reserve half the beef mixture. Toss with cooked penne for a robust, meaty pasta dish, and serve with – you guessed it! – Garlic Texas Toast!
In a large pan over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef for 8-10 minutes, breaking into small chunks with the back of spoon while cooking. Once the beef is browned and completely cooked, drain. Return to heat and add onion, garlic, salt, and ground pepper; cook for five minutes until the onion is translucent. Add the marinara sauce and simmer on medium-low heat for an additional 10 minutes.
While the beef mixture simmers, bake Furlani Garlic Texas Toast slices according to the package directions.
To serve, place a piece of garlic toast on a plate. Add a large, heaping spoonful of the beef mixture on top; sprinkle with shredded cheese. Place a second slice of garlic toast on top, layering once again with the beef mixture and shredded cheese. Top with chopped basil. Serve immediately.
