Weeknight Dynamite Sandwiches

The Dynamite sandwich is the Rhode Island version of the Sloppy Joe, which calls for ground beef to cook with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes or tomato sauce, herbs, and garlic for hours and hours… and most recipes will feed a very large gathering!

But our Dynamite sandwich is a simple, easy, fun, and very tasty weeknight meal for your intimate family. Using premade frozen burgers, store bought tomato-basil pasta sauce, and Furlani Garlic Texas Toast, the delicious flavours are already locked in! All you need to do is air fry the burgers, sauté the vegetables, heat the sauce, toast the garlic bread, assemble the sandwiches, and enjoy!

It’s all ready in about 20 minutes. And clean up is a breeze, since air frying the burgers keeps the burger splatters off the stovetop!

Find Furlani, Canada’s Favourite Garlic Bread, in the bakery section of your local grocery store. Furlani Garlic Texas Toast is ready in 5 minutes using the air fryer, toaster oven, griddle/fry pan or conventional oven.

Ingredients

Serves 4

Directions

1

Add the burgers to the air fryer (slightly overlapping is ok as they will shrink) and cook at 390°F for 6 minutes. Flip the burgers and cook for 6 minutes more. Remove to a cutting board.

2

While the burgers cook, heat the olive oil in a large skillet, over medium high heat. Add the peppers, onions, pepper flakes and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but still crisp. Add the pasta sauce and tomato paste and stir to combine. Continue to cook over medium heat.

3

Preheat the oven/toaster oven to 425°F

4

Chop the burgers into small pieces (to mimic ground beef), then add the burgers to the skillet with the tomato sauce and vegetables.

5

Place the garlic Texas toast on a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven for 3 minutes, flip and cook for 3 minutes more.

6

Place a piece of garlic toast on individual plates. Spoon the skillet mixture over the toast, top each with 3 tablespoons of cheese and add a second piece of garlic toast on top.
